With Stoke City and Port Vale, Stoke is particularly well represented for football but is also home to a large number of other sports including speedway, cricket and rugby union. In addition, the city is the hometown of many successful sportsmen and women – including the squash player Angela Smith, and darts player Phil Taylor. Whilst the Potteries shopping centre is home to big-name sports shops like Scotts, Sports Direct and JD Sports, don’t forget to look a bit further afield where you will find plenty of choice from the independent sector. Specialist Stoke sports shops include the snowsports shop at the Stoke Ski Centre and several bike shops on the edge of the city.
