Whilst the massive Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock tends to grab a lot of attention with its retailers like JD Sports and Sports World, these stores are heavily weighted towards selling fashion brands and are generally not frequented by real sports enthusiasts. For that, you probably need to look elsewhere in the county, especially towns like Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea that have good selections of Essex sports shops selling specialist sports equipment to the local residents.
